What is lift tig welding?

Lift TIG welding is a welding process that combines the features of both TIG (tungsten inert gas) and stick welding. It is also known as 'scratch start TIG welding'.

In lift TIG welding, the tungsten electrode is touched to the workpiece, and then lifted slightly to create an arc that heats and melts the metal being welded. This method avoids the need for a high-frequency start, making it simpler and more cost-effective.

Lift TIG welding produces high-quality welds with minimal spatter, distortion, and fumes. It is commonly used for welding stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and fabrication.

Some of the advantages of lift TIG welding include better control over the arc, reduced heat input, and improved weld quality. However, it does require a certain level of skill and experience to master the technique.
